I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said this, and I had to order my own. I’m actually not the hugest Obama fan, but now that he’s the man, I gotta get excited about him. Honestly, I just think all the cute rhyming Obama and Barack word play is funny, and I wanted to get in on the action.

I have to say I am unenthusiastic about voting this year. I don’t actually have much hope that Obama will win, and I can’t imagine 4 more years of Republicans. I think the last 8 have sucked quite enough to last us a while. The only thing I am excited about is taking my daughter, who will be 7 months old in November, to vote for the first time. I remember going to vote with my mom when I was a little drooler, and it was pretty danged influential. I hope my daughter will never miss an election, as I haven’t.

I was reading her a book the other day called “Mama Went to Jail for the Vote”, and my husband called down the steps “What the hell are you reading her??” I have to admit, the actual text of the book is about as creative as Bill O’Reilly’s wardrobe, but the POINT was there. Little girls these days aren’t taught much about women’s history. They aren’t taught to be proud, strong, intelligent women who value themselves. I do not want to raise a daughter who is not only vapid and stupid, but also insecure and self-loathing. I don’t think 6 weeks old is too young to learn that women rock.
